United States or US Residents Enrollment

We strive to make the application process as easy as possible for students. Below is a checklist of pilot training requirements to help you understand what you need to do in order to enroll at Hummingbird Aviation. Note: All applicants must be at least 17 years old.

Please make all checks payable to: Hummingbird Aviation LLC or; Please contact our Admissions department for wire instructions.
Applicable for those students that require Hummingbird Aviation housing. Limited Availability.
  • An FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical Certificate. (To obtain a Medical Certificate please visit www.flightphysical.com to find an approved doctor in your area).
  • Your High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Front and Back of FAA Pilot Certificate. (Only if you currently hold any pilot certificates/ratings).
  • Government Identification – (Provide the following) Certified copy of your Birth Certificate and Driver’s License/State Photo ID Card or a Valid passport (All copies must be legible).
  • Copy of your Permanent Resident Card. For US Residents only.
  • Completed and signed Flight Waiver. Click Here to download the flight waiver.

Register with the US Department of Transportation Security Administraion (TSA).

Register at http://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov. Contact the Admissions Department if you need help with the TSA application process.

International Admissions

International Enrollment

International students must submit all required materials to the Academy at least 60 days prior to the class start date. All applicants must be 18 years old within six months of starting their program.

Only applicable to self-sponsored students. Please contact our Admissions department for wire instructions
  • An FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical Certificate. To obtain a Medical Certificate please visit www.flightphysical.com to find an approved doctor in your area. If you are unable to obtain an FAA Medical Certificate, you can submit an FAA Medical Waiver Document (Download Form) stating you will complete this upon arrival at Hummingbird Aviation. If for any reason you are unable to pass the FAA medical exam, your visa will be cancelled and you will need to return to your home country.
  • Your High School Diploma or equivalent. (Foreign diplomas must also be translated into English, and verified for equivalency to a US high school diploma at minimum).
  • A valid passport. (This must be legible and include your picture and pages showing validity).
Hummingbird Aviation offers an English Language course for all our International students, that runs concurrently with flight training. However, if you would like to complete an English Language course prior to your arrival, we accept the following:

Note: In order to maintain your visa status, you are required to hold health insurance coverage with specific limits and coverage. If you currently have health insurance that you feel would meet these requirements, please contact our Admissions Department.

Upon arrival at Hummingbird Aviation, you be guided to register at www.flightschoolcandidates.gov. To ensure that the TSA application is filled out correctly, you will be assisted in the registration process by the Admissions Department upon arrival at Hummingbird Aviation.

Please provide one of the following

  • Affidavit of support from your bank
  • A bank statement

Note: Proof of funding must show that you are able to support the total cost of course(s), books, pilot supplies, health insurance, housing and living expenses estimated for the duration of your visa. (All bank documents must be translated into English).

All International Students are required to make a 35% deposit of the total cost of flight training, prior to arrival in the United States.
